Cosplay (2015)
This project explores the wonderful world of cosplay and the unique characters and costumes that come with this increasingly popular subculture. This was the final project I produced as part of my foundation degree, and was later exhibited in Bristol, Center Space, among other artists under the exhibition
title 'Play On'.
As someone who is part of this colourful subculture, I wanted to primarily focus on the characters and costumes themselves; choosing to take the models out of an everyday environment and put them in a studio, where the focus would be on the individuals. This gave us a lot of room to play around with poses and the general 'attitude' of the characters, and I would often ask models "What would your character do?" "How would your character hold themselves?", which gave me a verity of results, even when returning to the same model.
