Cosplay 2016

Cosplay 2016 was a continuation of my 2015 cosplay project, as well as the final project I produced for my Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree, which was later exhibited in London, Oxo Tower, under the exhibition title 'Opus'.

I wanted to take models out of the studio environment and place them in the real world, but after much discussion and debate on how crowded my earlier images felt, the box was added to create a separation. The box acted as a physical and mental separation from the outside world and the cosplayers, keeping them in their own 'bubble', drawing comparisons to how being a part of a lesser known subculture can sometimes make you feel isolated from the outside world; as well as drawing comparisons to 'boxed dolls' and 'action figures'.
